Schools, libraries, performing arts centers, and museums carry more civic weight per square foot than almost anything else we build. Getting the photography right means understanding what the building is trying to do — and making that legible in a single frame.
Documodern photographs education and cultural architecture across the St. Louis region and Midwest, working with projects ranging from K–12 additions and early childhood facilities to university buildings, community libraries, performing arts centers, and museum galleries. We shoot occupied and unoccupied spaces, interior and exterior conditions, and the material details that distinguish institutional design from ordinary construction.
For this building type, photography has to serve multiple audiences at once: the award submission panel evaluating design merit, the institution communicating its values to students and donors, and the architecture firm building its portfolio of civic work. We understand all three registers and structure our documentation accordingly — delivering a set of images that can anchor a design award narrative, lead a firm’s education portfolio page, and appear in regional and national publications.
Our work in this sector includes performing arts centers, STEM additions, historic renovations, event venues, and faith-based community facilities throughout the greater St. Louis area.
