For over 20 years, I have been a promoter, professor, and practitioner of modern design. From notable influencers Leslie Laskey, Juhani Pallasmaa, and Tom Heneghan — to the full range of big, small, and medium firms, I have been a stalwart of the belief that good design can make a difference in the world. I taught in the Art Department at Webster University for over 10 years, and currently teach in the Graduate School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. My research interests are in the architecture and philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein, and in the history and theory of modern design — architecture/graphic design/decorative arts — from Art Nouveau to Postmodernism. I am an advocate for big-picture ideas met with hands-on engagement, a strategic thinker and problem-solver, and get excited about the history and theory of architecture put into practice.
